Experience two of our most haunting tours for one discounted price. Explore the eerie Capuchin Crypts and uncover ghostly legends on this all-in-one Dark Rome Tour.
Uncover the Eternal City’s grimmest tales on this Dark Rome Tour — a combination of two chilling walking tours led by expert storytellers who specialise in making history entertainingly uncomfortable.
PLEASE NOTE: Each tour lasts around two hours. You can experience both in one eerie evening (with a short break in between), or spread them across two nights. After booking, we’ll reach out to confirm your preference — or let fate decide.
Begin with a visit to one of Rome’s most unforgettable sites: the Capuchin Crypt, where over 3,500 monks have become the décor. Some are standing. Some are stacked. Some are shaped into chandeliers. You’ll discover the eerie symbolism behind this skeletal masterpiece, before heading above ground to explore tales of wartime tragedy, ghostly legends, and a Roman butcher who may have inspired Sweeney Todd. Spoiler: he didn’t sell ham.
Then, as night deepens, embark on our Rome’s Dark Side walking tour. This is where ghost stories, executions, and scandalous secrets take centre stage. Meet the philosopher who was burned for thinking too much, try to spot the ghost of a Count with a Marie Antoinette complex, and hear the tale of a woman who may have become Pope — and now haunts the bridge you’ll cross.
From haunted churches to cursed backstreets and stories that linger long after the tour ends, this is a Dark Rome Tour that goes beyond bones and ghosts — revealing the twisted heart of the city behind the postcard views.

Yes. Even the undead need a breather. There’s about an hour’s break between the tours to grab a drink, use the toilet, or stare into the void before continuing. Or you can also choose to split the two tours between two separate days
Children have enjoyed both of these tours very much, but it depends on the child’s taste for skeletons, poisonings, and ghost stories. There’s no gore or jump scares — just history, but the kind that leaves a mark.
Yes — your ticket includes full entry to the Capuchin Crypt and Museum, no queueing needed. You’ll walk straight in and meet the monks who never quite left.
Shoulders and knees must be covered in the Capuchin Crypts. If you forget to bring a cover, disposable covers are available at the ticket office for 1 Euro. Apart from that, you just need comfortable shoes, a bottle of water, and a healthy respect for the dead.
